Winter fly fishing on the owyhee and south fork of the bosie river.

These two rivers are my favorite places to fish in November and through all of the winter... there is just something about winter fly fishing on one hand winter fishing is more changeling then any other time of year. but one could say November in really not winter fishing its more spring fly fishing. And with this i agree but November is winter to me so that's what i call it.

the owyhee is the river that is prefer to fish this time of the year. I think that the owyhee river is the best brown trout fishery in the lower 48. in November and through the rest of the colder months the owyhee river can be a very hard place to fish. That is why only the best fishermen fish this time of the year. i like this time of the year because of the dry fly action. the chance to catch a 20in brown on a size eighteen dry fly is unbelievable, i get a smile on my face every time i see a browns head come out of the water. the key of fishing this time of the year is take your time in what you do.

The south fork of the Boise in November is the place to go and fly fish, it is the best to fly fishing in the winter because there are almost no people on the river and with the catches and amount of fish in the river you are bound to catch at least half a dozen fish. the strange thing about this river is the weather the reason i say this is that the worst the weather the better the fishing.

Fly fishing the bosie river in town

It all about the steelhead right now in the Boise river in town the steelhead are all up and down the river. If you look in the rifles that the trout are in, you had a pretty good chance of catching a steelhead or two. If you do plan on going out to the river to target the steelhead i would put a simple stone fly nymph with a bright egg colored bead head, and below that i would use a egg pattern. The trout and white fish fishing right now in the river has been really good i was out there spey fishing a caught a steelhead and six bows all in one spot. so if you do happen to get out there look for BWOs in the afternoon, but beside that there is not alot top water action this time of year. also look for midge catches in the mornings and right before dark.

Fly fishing report (south fork of the bosie)

As of right now the south fork of the Boise river is the place to go and fish. The fish are easy to find and they are feeding alto, the hatches are good there are tons of bugs coming off right now as well. the bugs to look for would have to be BWOs and really surprisingly their are still a few PMDs coming off on the warmer days. if their is nothing going on with the whole dry fly thing. you can always through on a nymph rig and see what you can pull out. I would use a two fly set up with a October caddis nymph on top and a pheasant tail on the bottom. now the fish are easy to find doesn't mean they will be easy to catch.

Fly Fishing report,(owyhee river OR.)

This last week of fishing has just been the greatest, this time of the year is great for fishing streamers between me and my brother we caught 18 nice healthy fish one fish broke the 23 inch mark it was a toad. If you find a nice peace of water that looks like it would hold fish strip a black or olive bugger or even a bunny leech. Also in the afternoon in the heat of the day you can find fish on midges or even some BWO every once in awhile. all in all just go have a good time even though its cold you can still get fish.
